United States Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employees who belong to a union and are covered under a collective bargaining agreement earn higher wages and receive better benefits than employees in the same classifications who are non-union.

By joining Local 813, you will receive:

• Wages—Our members earn the highest wages in their classification within their industries.
   
• Medical Insurance—You will receive a complete medical insurance program, which includes dental and vision. Your spouse and children will also be eligible, without you, the member, paying any contributions towards premiums.
   
• Pension/Severance Plans—You will receive a pension and/or severance plan, which will aid in your retirement. These plans are completely funded by the employer.

In addition to the wages and benefits, you will also be protected by an agreement.  Should you be disciplined you will be fully represented at a hearing and arbitration, if necessary.
